Say hello to M Health Fairview

New agreement expands former M Health partnership

James Hereford, Fairview president and CEO, and Jakub Tolar, M.D., Ph.D., Medical School dean and vice president for clinical affairs

The University of Minnesota, University of Minnesota Physicians, and Fairview Health Services have created an academic health system now united under a single brand: M Health Fairview. The partnership took effect January 1 and will continue through December 31, 2026, with an option for a 10-year extension in 2023.

The agreement expands the organizations’ former University of Minnesota Health (M Health) partnership and brings together the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Fairview’s other 11 hospitals, 56 primary care clinics, and additional services into one shared care delivery system.

Highlights include a structure that promotes care designed around patient needs and led by academic physicians, tighter operational alignment to simplify the care experience, and increased financial support for the U’s Medical School.
